This is pretty cool – this new train line opened the day after the tsunami. Lots of people came out to see the train for the first time, but also to show solidarity and resilience after the pretty terrible disaster there. Sometimes the most incredible things happen when people endure hardships!
I stumbled across this incredible house in California. I love how it blends organic elements, yet still retains a refined, contemplated, and geometric design. The layout of the entire house wraps around the side of a hill, the three support columns almost look like trees at the bottom coming out of the floor, but by their connections with the roof are very orderly; and the windows provide squared patterns and order juxtaposed with the other features of the house. Inspiration can come from many places – I get it a lot from architecture and city planning. Paris is such a great example of both. Using more than 2,000 photographs, Luke Shepard, a student at the American University of Paris, created a neat video of his temporary home city.
